Ramie Soap Bags are great if you want to ditch the plastic from your bathroom and live a more sustainable life.
How do you use Ramie Soap Bags?
Just pop your favourite Maldon soap into the soap bag, do up the drawstring and you’re ready to go!
When you’re in the shower the rubbing action of washing makes the soap lather gently through the bag. It’s so easy to wash and clean your skin with no mess, plus it makes it easier to hang onto your soap too. No more dropping it and having it sliding everywhere in the shower!
When you’ve finished washing just hang up the bag with the soap inside to dry until next time.
It’s great for keeping your shower tidy whilst prolonging the life of your soap.

Why soap instead of shower gel?
Soap is an amazing product, especially any that you buy from Maldon Soap!
Being an alkali no germs can live on a dry soap bar. Soap will clean your skin without stripping away its natural moisture barrier. And a bar lasts for ages.
All Maldon Soaps are made from gorgeous local, organic, vegan, ethically sourced ingredients and a little goes a long way.
In our quest to ditch the plastic we wanted to make it easier for you to make the switch from shower gel to natural soap.
Shower gel is predominantly made from Sodium Laurel/Laureth Sulfate (SLS). This is an industrial strength surfactant (foamer and degreaser). SLS is only ever manufactured from palm oil so, not only is it harsh and stripping to your skin, it’s pretty bad for the planet too. A quick google will highlight the many enormous problems that palm oil create.
There are a lot of other companies out there who make their soap is from palm oil. Some companies even make soap from SLS. However, you can rest assured that at Maldon Soap we don’t use palm oil or SLS in any of our products. We never have and we never will.
Handy tip:
I have three of these soap bags in use at the same time. There’s a bamboo one, a ramie one and a sisal one. I hang them on the shower curtain hooks (I have a shower over my bath) so they’re not near the shower flow. It’s easy then to just use a different bag each day so that the other two get the chance to dry out properly between uses.
More information about Ramie Soap Bags:
All the soap bags I sell are machine washable (take the soap out first!)
They are made from natural plant fibres and will last approximately 2-3 months depending on how vigorously and regularly you use them.
We do not recommend using exfoliating soaps in soap bags as, not only will you trap all the exfoliating bits, so your soap won’t exfoliate, but your bag could wear out quicker or tear.
Also shampoos will not work in the bags as they are designed to be rubbed directly on your hair.
Ramie soap bags are made from 100% sustainable ramie – a natural, biodegradable fibre which can go in your compost bin or garden waste at the end of its life.
