When you use Nettle & Rosemary solid shampoo for the first time it will feel very different in your hair to your regular shampoo. This is because it is completely natural. It will leave your hair feeling squeaky clean without stripping hair of its essential moisture barrier.
All our shampoo bars are all made from wonderful, organic ingredients which have been carefully researched and chosen for their skin and hair nurturing properties.
What is Nettle and Rosemary Solid Shampoo made from?
Extra virgin olive oil increases the tensile strength of hair.
Avocado oil smooths hair and helps it to look more shiny, whilst strengthening it from within.
Coconut oil nourishes the hair and hardens the shampoo bar whilst creating big bubbles.
Argan oil provides a boost for hair and contains natural keratin to help keep it strong.
Castor oil increases blood flow to the scalp and promotes healthier hair growth whilst cutting down on scalp inflammation.
Borage oil is great at helping inflammatory hair conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Nettles are brilliant for preventing hair loss and effective against dandruff and other flaky scalp conditions.
Rosemary and peppermint essential oils help to stimulate the scalp and make it feel great!
Some solid shampoos on the market contain compacted SLS needles. These strip the hair and scalp of essential moisture contained within its protective moisture barrier. Maldon Soap solid shampoos are made differently, with a nutritious blend of natural organic ingredients which work with your hair, not against it.
How to use Nettle and Rosemary Solid Shampoo:
A solid shampoo is, basically, a bar of soap for your head.
Wet your hair and rub the bar directly on your head, along the length of your hair, working up a lather. Work the lather through the rest of your hair, shampoo as normal and then rinse out. The shampoo will rinse away really quickly. This is because it doesn’t have any artificial foaming agents to clog up your hair.
After rinsing it might feel a bit heavy and squonky (squeaky/wonky). If it does feel a bit weird like this just use a tiny bit more shampoo and give it another rinse. You may need to do that for the first few uses until your hair gets used to it and you get used to how it feels in your hair. Your hair might take a week or so to adjust to the new products that it’s being treated to.
Here’s a video I made showing you how I use shampoo bars
Understanding the transition phase of switching to solid shampoo:
When you first switch to solid shampoo your hair might go through a transition phase and feel a bit strange. When you use a solid shampoo bar for the first time it will feel quite different to a liquid in a bottle. This is because it’s a totally natural product.
The SLS in liquid shampoos (and some solid ones) strips hair of essential moisture. While this might make your hair feel soft it just means your hair has been stripped of nutrition. Some shampoos also contain silicones that coat your newly stripped hair in plastic. This might make it feel silky but your hair now can’t breathe so it becomes weaker and eventually breaks. My shampoo bars won’t strip your hair of essential moisture or coat them in plastic because they’re natural.
Here’s a video where I explain about the transition phase you may go through which might be helpful to watch when making the switch to solid shampoo
You might need to use a light conditioner afterwards just on the ends of your hair if it’s long or if you usually use conditioner. Here’s the link to one of my best selling conditioners. Your hair should be easier to brush and will feel soft and bouncy and smell incredible. I found that I couldn’t stop touching and sniffing my hair afterwards as I couldn’t believe I’d just washed it with what was, effectively, a bar of soap!
Allow your bar to dry thoroughly between uses or it will go soft. We do not recommend using these shampoo bars with our soap bags.

Helen Ewers –
I received this in a goody bag, and so far I’m impressed and pleasantly surprised. I’ve been using shampoo bars for a few years now and am generally happy with them, but this lathers up the best and leaves my hair squeaky clean and shiny. I think I may be converted!
