Why have I made a multi purpose household cleaner?
I am trying to remove nasty chemicals from my life! I have succeeded with my beauty products – hence launching The Maldon Soap Company but I’m also trying to make my home more natural and chemical free.
I first made this multi purpose household cleaner a couple of years ago for my own personal use when I was experimenting with product bases and I found it really works well! I decided to share it with the world and I’m so glad I did!
How do you use this multi purpose household cleaner?
Just a quick spray on worktops, sinks and baths is enough to clean and clear away grease, crumbs, soap scum and bath rings.
I won’t lie, sometimes you have to leave it on a while to remove burnt on stuff from cooker tops – but then I haven’t found any chemical laden products that work straight away – so to leave something to soak for a while (have a cuppa while you wait) is fine by me – especially if it cleans without chemical intervention!
This cleaner is made from an organic, palm free, liquid castille soap base. Therefore it’s sulfate free, chemical free, paraben free, additive free. The addition of essential oils give a lovely fragrance and extra cleaning power. The lemon and tea tree version is antibacterial and disinfects thanks to the tea tree oil.
Did you know that drop for drop tea tree oil is 12 times more effective at disinfecting than carbolic acid! Smells better too!
Multi purpose household cleaner comes in four varieties:
Lemon and Tea Tree which is antibacterial and disinfecting.
Lavender and Peppermint which has a gorgeously minty, uplifting aroma
Orange and Grapefruit which is such a feel good fragrance it’s going to make any room smell fantastic.
Pine which has a lovely clean fresh scent, great for bathrooms.
You can dilute it with normal water into a trigger spray dispenser, preferably one you’ve re-used, just remember to label it accordingly. The spray bottle I use I’ve had for about 6 years, there’s nothing wrong with it at all except it’s a bit crumpled. I’m sure it will be good for another 6 years!
This cleanser will last as long as your regular cleaner.
There are no hard and fast rules about diluting it. Half and half is the strongest dilution you would need which is great for kitchens and bathrooms, although I use about 1/3 cleanser 2/3 water which works great. If you make up a weaker dilution of 1/4 cleanser 3/4 water it’s great to spray around the bath as it’s emptying which dissolves bath grime and makes it easier to just run the shower head round the bath and, hey presto, no ring round the bath and no effort!
The household cleaner comes in a 500ml glass bottle which is enough to make 1-2 litres of cleaner depending on how strong you want to make it.
Please recycle your glass bottle and lid afterwards.
