Why Benson’s Bubbles Dog Shampoo?
This is Benson. He is my doggy grandson. He is beautiful and I love him to bits. But….. as you can see from this montage of pictures he loves muddy puddles. In fact he loves anything water or mud related and he particularly enjoys rolling in anything disgusting.
You can see the pleasure on his face when he’s doing it so you really can’t be cross with him for too long but boy does he stink sometimes!
Skin wise he’s quite a sensitive soul. His coat gets flaky and itchy due to the amount of hosings down and baths he has to have due to his mud obsession.
His mum was having trouble finding shampoos that were both effective and gentle enough for his skin.
We needed to come up with a solution that would work for him and that would be both beneficial and cost effective. Natural liquid shampoos can cost loads and tend to run out very quickly due to Benson being such a big boy. I did lots of research and experimented with several versions and eventually came up with the ultimate woof wash. I have called it Benson’s Bubbles Dog Shampoo in honour of the gorgeous mud monster that inspired it.
It has been tested on Benson and declared to be great at covering large areas of dog quickly and easily. It naturally lathers just the right amount to allow for thorough cleaning and then it rinses out quickly and thoroughly to leave his coat clean, smelling fresh and not flaky or itchy.
So what’s in Benson’s Bubbles Dog Shampoo?
I’ve made the shampoo base from lots of lovely cold pressed and organic oils to ensure that it is caring and nurturing for a dogs skin. There’s organic avocado oil, jojoba oil and evening primrose oils which are all very moisturising and calming to the skin. Coconut, olive and apricot kernel oils form the base of the shampoo plus some castor oil for lots of big bubbles and a shiny coat.
Organic neem oil has been added as it is so beneficial to both a dogs coat and skin and is very effective at warding off fleas and ticks and I’ve also added a dollop of aloe vera for its extra skin calming effects. Green clay detoxes and cleanses too.
Neem oil is an amazing oil for all hair and skin related issues but it has quite a distinctive odour of its own. So to ward off the pong of goodness I’ve added a very carefully blended selection of dog friendly essential oils which are effective for their calming, soothing and anti bacterial effects on a dogs coat and skin.
How do I apply it?
Benson’s bubbles dog shampoo will lather even in cold water so if you’ve got to hose your hound down outside it will still be effective. If you’re bathing your bow wow just wet the coat and rub the whole bar over their coat a few times. Rub it in and it will lather just enough to clean the coat, although if your dog is really dirty you might need to rinse and repeat until all the yucky stuff is removed. The shampoo should rinse out thoroughly and will leave their coat feeling fresh but not stripped of all its natural oils.
As with all dog shampoos go careful around their head area and don’t get it in their eyes, ears or nose.
The bar is a nice big chunk of soap that’s easy to handle (around 150g) but feel free to cut it up to suit your needs.
