Soap is a natural phenomenon.  It’s been made the same way for thousands of years, originally using wood ash and animal fat but things are a bit more refined these days.  I make my soap the traditional way but I only ever use vegetable oils like olive, coconut, avocado and sunflower.  I also use organic butters like cocoa and shea and natural clays, local oats, and pure essential oils.

All the soaps are handmade by me in small batches to ensure top quality. I never use palm oil, SLS, parabens or any other unnecessary additives or fillers in any of my soaps.  Once made the soap is made it has to cure for 4-6 weeks before it can be used. This is when the fascinating process of ‘saponification’ takes place; when the oils, butters and liquid combine to make a creamy, glycerine rich, moisturising, skin beneficial, bubbly bar of soap without the need for any artificial foaming agents.

I also make a range of artisan soaps which enable me to express my creativity in soap making. For these I use a palm and SLS free soap base which I then add extra oils and other beneficial ingredients to so that they look and smell fabulous and are also still good for your skin. All the soaps are gentle enough for all skin types to use and are suitable for hands and body, although there are specific soaps for very dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. I also make facial soaps which are listed separately in the facial skincare section.

Once the soaps are ready they are wrapped either in handmade sustainable lokta paper or biodegradable cellophane (made from sustainable wood pulp).

    Pure Coconut and Oat Soap

    5 out of 5

If your skin is prone to eczema breakouts or you have dry skin in general (and if you loooove the smell of coconut) this soap could be your new best friend!

Having helped in a number of cases of dry skin, eczema and psoriasis this soap is made using pure coconut milk and coconut oil for their exceptional moisturising properties.  I then add local, gluten free oats for gentle exfoliation and an even creamier texture so it's a winner all round for any dry skin conditions.

Some coconut soaps can actually be drying but this one contains a good deal of extra coconut oil to leave your hands and body feeling soft, supple and smooth.

This is my best selling soap and there is usually a waiting list for it, so if it's not available on the website feel free to send me a message on here to reserve one.  It is made in very small batches to ensure its freshness so you shouldn't have to wait more than a week or two.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil Castille Soap

    4 out of 5

Unfragranced and pure, this is the soap many swear by for psoriasis, eczema and all dry skin conditions.

It has been used for centuries across Europe in olive growing countries.

People have long used it for their face, body, children, pets, clothes, dishes and floors so it’s pretty versatile. I even know an artist who buys it and uses it to clean her brushes!

It is a very basic soap that got its more common name ‘Castile Olive Soap’ from it’s origins in Castile, Spain.  If you have difficult skin and don’t know what to do with it, this soap is a good starting place! It’s not a massively bubbly bar but it cleans effectively and leaves skin soft and smooth.
